📚 The Beginning: Searching for Hope in a Sea of Books
Everything began the moment my sister Wai Wah received her breast cancer diagnosis. Faced with that shock, I did not choose helplessness — I reached for books. I studied 14 authoritative works on medicine and nutrition and built a complex „intelligent reading and knowledge-linking system.“
At first, searching for answers in the vast literature was painful. But today this system is so mature it can instantly extract the most essential health truths from enormous amounts of data.
🧠 The Core Engine: My „Intelligent Reading System“
Many ask me: where does chiwai’s accuracy come from? The answer is not in the cloud — it is in the private knowledge network I have built over the past years.

It is precisely this deep knowledge base that allows chiwai to provide ingredient synergy recommendations that even seasoned nutritionists might overlook. This is not just technology — it is the crystallisation of 40 years of industry experience and cutting-edge medical knowledge.
🥣 The Kitchen Miracle: The Power of a Soup and a Chef’s Dedication
In this battle, my brother-in-law Li Xiejie became the unsung hero. He holds China’s highest culinary qualification and has an almost fanatical devotion to cooking.
Even in his spare time he studies the food-therapy knowledge that Chinese TCM experts share on social media. During each of Wai Wah’s chemotherapy sessions, he cooked personally — using the finest ingredients — traditional Chinese healing soups.
The result was astonishing: Wai Wah went through a near „textbook-perfect“ chemotherapy process, almost entirely free of the usual side effects. On the same hospital floor, we watched other patients suffer due to insufficient nutritional support.
Two years earlier, Xiejie lost his first wife, who had also fought cancer. Although the soups could not save her life then, they helped her achieve a „life record“ of more than six months in palliative care — giving her more dignity and comfort in her final time.
That experience left Xiejie with an unshakeable conviction: food may not always cure death — but it can always warm a life.
🚫 Our Pain Point: A Table with No Safe Place
Back in everyday life, however, we faced a new struggle. As a family — my sister Wai Wah, my brother-in-law Li Xiejie, and myself (容子基 Chi Kei Yung) — we all suffer serious allergic reactions to ingredients such as MSG.
Every restaurant visit was a risky gamble for us. Even at the most expensive restaurants, we would often regret it afterwards. That lonely feeling of „I want to eat but I dare not“ — it cut us deeply.
🥗 The Revolution at China Restaurant Yung: Cooking for Family and for the World
Since there was no kitchen outside that we could fully trust, we decided to create one in our own China Restaurant Yung. With my 40 years of industry experience, we resolved to no longer serve „standard flavour“ — but only dishes that are truly healthy and healing.
But we needed a stage — one where we could explain to guests why this dish is better. That was the birth of chiwai.
🚀 chiwai’s Two Core Breakthroughs
1. Science-backed health claims
On our digital menu you see not just the dish name. You see an explanation grounded in PubMed studies or authoritative medical works: why does this combination fight inflammation? Why are these ingredients beneficial for specific body constitutions? This is not marketing — this is documented science.
2. Ingredient Synergy Engine
The system analyses a chef’s existing recipes and suggests how small adjustments — using ingredient synergies — can create dishes with higher nutritional value. The goal: every dish should be an „ally“ of the body, not a burden.

chiwai is my gift to my sister, my brother-in-law, and to everyone affected by allergies and health challenges. We want everyone who walks into a restaurant to eat the way we do at home: knowingly, safely, and healthily.
